KW Jr A Lacrosse Club Rebrands as the Kitchener Kodiaks, Unifying Region's Lacrosse Identity New name honours the former KW Kodiaks Senior A legacy and aligns with the KWMLA Kodiaks minor lacrosse system.

KITCHENER, ON — The KW Jr A Lacrosse Club has officially rebranded as the Kitchener Kodiaks, completing a unified identity for lacrosse in the Kitchener-Waterloo region from the minor system all the way to the Junior A level.

The rebrand is rooted in community alignment. The Kitchener-Waterloo Minor Lacrosse Association — which has operated as the KW Kodiaks — has long sent its best players to the region's Junior A club. With this rebrand, those players will now graduate from one Kodiaks program directly into another, creating a seamless pipeline and a shared identity that spans every level of competitive lacrosse in the region.

The new name also serves as a tribute to the former Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks Senior A club, which competed in Major Series Lacrosse from 2003 to 2015 and built a dedicated fanbase before relocating to Cobourg. The Kodiak name has Senior A history and community equity in this region — the Junior A club is proud to carry that legacy forward.

"The Kodiaks name already belongs to this community," said President Jeff Williamson. "Kids grow up as Kodiaks in the minor system. Fans in this region watched Senior A Kodiaks lacrosse for over a decade. All we're doing is bringing the Junior A program into that family. It's a name that was always meant to be ours."

The rebrand includes a complete visual identity: new primary logo, wordmark, secondary marks, full colour palette, and jersey design — developed to reflect the strength of the club, the character of the region, and the physicality of the sport.

The Kitchener Kodiaks compete in the Ontario Junior Lacrosse League and play out of the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. The organization has operated continuously since 1967 and has produced over 30 professional lacrosse players, including notable NLL alumni Ryan Benesch, Colin Doyle, and Dhane Smith.

Full branding assets, merchandise details, and season information will be released in the coming weeks. Fans are encouraged to follow the club's official social media channels for updates.
